A pleasant walk from Waterhead to Ambleside. It takes a route through Borran’s Park, by Galava Roman Fort, on beside the Serpentine to pass the confluence of the Rivers Rothay and Brathay before crossing the Rothay footbridge. A level walk continues along the Under Loughrigg Road to gain the entrance to Rothay Park. Alternatively follow the road to Clappersgate to ascend Todd Crag – a wonderful viewpoint. Rothay Park leads to the spired St Mary’s Church and return to Waterhead along Lake Road.
