Description
Rising from the pass of Dunmail Raise above Grasmere, the curving shoulder of Seat Sandal forms an unmistakeable profile. The route described here offers a straightforward walk to the summit of a high fell. Rising by it’s South Ridge and falling to Grisedale Hause, before descending by the cascades of Tongue Gill, it provides a splendid outing.
LENGTH: 7.75km.
TIME: 3.5 hours.
DIFFICULTY: Difficult with steep ascent (700m) and descent.
START & FINISH: Wide verge by Mill Bridge junction beside the northbound A591 just outside Grasmere (336092).
