LOUGHRIGG FROM AMBLESIDE

This is the classic outing – rising from Ambleside’s Miller Bridge  by Todd Crag and Lily Tarn to follow along the shoulder of the fell to the summit which overlooks both Langdale and Grasmere. Descending the northern nose, above Grasmere, leads to Loughrigg Terrace. Return is made by the side of Rydal Water to Rydal’s Pelter Bridge and then along the Under Loughrigg Road back to Ambleside.

DIFFICULTY: Mildly difficult with straightforward ascent (500m) and descent.

ALTERNATIVE START: Car park above Pelter Bridge (365060)
