Rising from Troutbeck’s Limefitt Park and continuing along the grassy lane by Long Green Head Farm this route passes by ancient slate workings to briefly follow the line of the Roman Road before continuing  to round the wilds of The Tongue. A river crossing, a visit to ancient settlements, and a stone slab clapper bridge colour the upper section of the round before Troutbeck Park Farm leads to Hagg and Ing Bridges before a little bridleway regains the road above the church.

Rising from Troutbeck’s Limefitt Park and continuing along the grassy lane by Long Green Head Farm this route passes by ancient slate workings to briefly follow the line of the Roman Road before continuing  to round the wilds of The Tongue. TIME: 5 hours.
DIFFICULTY: Difficult; mainly on good tracks with easy ascent of some 360m. A river crossing, boggy going and length contribute to the overall level of difficulty.
START & FINISH: Troutbeck Valley, parking by the river just below Church Bridge (412 027).

HOSTELRIES: The Mortal Man and Queens Head Inns and Troutbeck Post Office Tearoom all lay within Troutbeck.
