At the head of Windermere Lake, defined by the Kirkstone Road to the west and Troutbeck to the east, gentle Wansfell watches over the little town of Ambleside. This clockwise circuit leads steeply over Wansfell Pike before descending Nanny Lane down The Hundreds to Troutbeck. It then makes return by a low traverse of Robin Lane reaching Skelghyll Wood to pass the famous viewpoint of Jenkin Crag overlooking Windermere Lake.

DIFFICULTY: Difficult with strenuous ascent (450m) though easier descent
