Description
Orrest Head, one of the most famous viewpoints in Britain, looks over the length of Windermere Lake; south to Morecambe Bay and north to the Lakeland Fells. A delightful and simple hill walk, located directly above Windermere town, which climbs through and returns by mixed woods and the opulent intrigue of a grand garden gone wild.
TIME: 1.25 hours.
DIFFICULTY: Easy, with moderate ascent and descent.
START & FINISH: On the high side of the main road A591through Windermere (413 988), just below the Windermere Hotel. Limited parking on either side of the main road.
