This clockwise route climbs to the summit of the hill from Hawkshead before descending and traversing it’s southern shoulder to intercept an ancient bridleway which leads pleasantly down towards the hamlet of Colthouse.

This clockwise route climbs to the summit of the hill from Hawkshead before descending and traversing it’s southern shoulder to intercept an ancient bridleway which leads pleasantly down towards the hamlet of Colthouse.

TIME: 2 hours.
DIFFICULTY: Mildly difficult, with short section of strenuous ascent (120m).
START & FINISH: Hawkshead Village large car park (355 981).
MAPS: OS L96 or OL7.                 
HOSTELRIES: Numerous in Hawkshead.
