LAKESIDE TO FINSTHWAITE TOWER & CHURCH

£3.50

A wonderful clockwise circuit rising from Windermere Lake though the trees of Water Side Knott to the forgotten Finsthwaite Tower before descending to traverse the meadows to Finsthwaite Church. Return to Lakeside is made via Great Knott Wood. The stone tower, once a famed viewpoint over the great lake though now overrun with dark conifers, bears a plaque dated 1799 in honour of the Royal Navy. A walk contrasting lake, closed woods, open meadow and fine stone buildings.
