Description
Surrounded by oak woods the quiet beauty of the High Dam Reservoir, and the smaller Low Dam beneath, now masks their industrial heritage. Back in the 1830’s water from here drove the 32ft diameter water wheel that powered the Stott Park Bobbin Mill making wooden bobbins for the Lancashire Cotton trade. The mill is now an attractive museum.
