Description
A pleasant round combining open fellside and slopes of mixed woodland in a delightful position with views over both Grasmere and Great Langdale. From the high point of the Grasmere to Elterwater road this route strikes west along the Huntingstile shoulder to ascend, or traverse by, the conical top of Dow Bank. Descent from here, towards Grasmere by Wyke Wood, is followed by re-ascending the Huntingstile track.
LENGTH: 4.25km.
TIME: 1.75 hours.
DIFFICULTY: Mildly difficult with moderate ascent (300m) and descent.
START & FINISH: High Close, beyond the cattle grid there are limited roadside parking spaces on the Langdale side (338052).
